A Sheffield pub is due to close on 1st July for four weeks whilst it undergoes a major transformation to improve the overall look and feel of the pub.
The Closed Shop, situated in the Commonside area, is having a £250,000 cash injection by the new operators Blue Bee Brewery and owners Punch Taverns, a leading pub company in the UK, to refurbish the pub throughout with new décor and kitchen facilities.
As a result of the investment, 10 new jobs will be created.
Andy Stephens, co-founder for Sheffield-based Blue Bee Brewery, is excited about the refurbishment: “There will be major work conducted throughout the pub but we want to keep the traditional look and feel of a local, community pub.
“The plans look fantastic; we will be able to offer locally-sourced and high quality pub food as well as a range of craft beers and real ales so that there is a range of facilities to suit and appeal to all. I look forward to seeing the end result.”
The pub is expected to reopen towards the end of July.
Punch Taverns’ Partnership Development Manager, Andy Longley, is also looking forward to the new look pub: “It’s great that Punch can invest in their pubs and we essentially want to restore the Closed Shop back to its former glory and position it as one of the leading pubs that can provide quality food and drink and great live entertainment for residents in Sheffield.”
