Punch summer BBQ raises more money for Scanner Appeal

Burton-based Pub Company Punch Taverns held a sizzling summer barbeque to raise £1,390 towards the Queen’s Hospital Scanner Appeal.

Punch’s annual summer barbeque, held at Shobnall Fields, contributed to its Punch Community Support Project’s (PSCP) total donation of £2,629 for the Scanner Appeal. This brings the pub chain’s donation over half way towards reaching its target of £5,000.

Karen Caddick, HR Director at Punch, said: “This year’s barbeque was a huge success and a great opportunity to give something back to Burton and our employees! There was something for everyone; the youngsters were kept entertained by Wendy and Wesley from the Fradley Arms and Millhouse Wacky Warehouse Teams and guests enjoyed a fantastic display of fire juggling.

“We’re really grateful to everyone who attended and made this event possible to help us raise £1,390 for the Scanner Appeal. We’re pleased that we’re over half way to reaching our target of £5,000 and we’re looking forward to continuing our fund-raising efforts to achieve our goal by the end of the year.”

Representatives of the hospital visited the barbeque to increase the awareness of the appeal and to sell merchandise to help their fund-raising efforts.

Jim Morrison, Chairman at the hospital, said: “We’re really grateful to Punch for their support. Their employees were so friendly and generous; it was a delight to come along.”
