Punch generates cash donation to the scouts

Burton based Pub Company Punch Taverns has donated £500 towards a new generator for the 8th Burton (St John’s) Scout Group after their camping equipment was stolen.

The 8th Burton (St John’s) Scout Group received vital funding to help provide essential equipment for camps and outdoor activities, such as generators, tents and cooking equipment, after their equipment was stolen when the equipment store was broken into.

Scout secretary Janet Threlfall, said: “We are really grateful to Punch for their kind donation. This money will make a huge difference to the boys and girls in the group and to the leaders, as the generator is such a vital part of camping. We are so pleased; we can now provide an authentic and enjoyable camping experience!”

Punch visited a recent group camp at Rolleston-on-Dove scout headquarters, where they saw the new generator in action and took part in fundraising activities, such as a duck race and rock climbing.

Sarah Perrins, head of PR and communications at Punch, commented: “It was great to see our donations in use and how beneficial it is to small groups in the local community. It was a really enjoyable day and I wish them all the best in their fundraising efforts.”
