Punch donates £500 to Tranent creche

Burton-based pub company, Punch Taverns, has donated £500 towards the Moyra McNeill fund, a small group who are fundraising for a new soft play facility within the loch centre.

The company, which owns the land at the old Tranmere Hotel site, donated the money provided by the travelling circus, Taylors Funfair, to use the land when it visited Tranent in September.

Neil Findlay, Estates Development Manager at Punch, said: “At Punch, we own sites nationwide and we are always looking to support local charities where we can.

The Moyra McNeil Fund is an inspirational initiative and will benefit many children in the local area so it’s our pleasure to help such a worthy cause.”

The Moyra McNeil Fund was set up by Susan Tully and Kirsty McGregor in memory of a good friend and colleague Moyra McNeil in July 2010. They are looking to raise £30,000 so they can build a soft play facility for local children up to nine years old.

Co-founder of the Moyra McNeill fund, Susan Tully, said: “I am delighted to receive this donation. This has made a considerable difference towards our overall fund –we are now just £8,000 short of our target.

“The crèche will be the only facility of its kind in the local area for children and I want thank Punch Taverns for their generous donation.”

Punch is a leading pub company in the UK with approximately 4,000 leased and tenanted pubs nationwide.
