Punch delivers on community promise to Branston school

Burton based pub company Punch Taverns has launched its new charity initiative by digging deep to clear the garden and pond at Rykneld Primary School in Branston.

Four committee members from the newly established Punch Community Promise got stuck in weeding around the pond, clearing around the back of the sheds and tidying the garden.

The Punch Community Promise involves Punch donating time and money to a variety of local causes such as charities, schools, sports clubs, welfare groups and hospitals.

Deputy Head teacher, Fiona Brown, said: “We are extremely grateful to Punch for donating their time to help clean our garden and pond area and we’re really pleased they chose our school to be their first venture as part of the Punch Community Promise.”

Punch employee Leila Maia, said: “It felt great to get involved and help a local school. It was also a good team building exercise for the new committee.”

HR Director, Jackie Burn, said: “It is important for us as a business to support local worthy causes whether it’s through spending time on a renovation project or donating some much needed funds to a club.”

To qualify, charities or causes must be located within a 15-mile catchment area of Punch Taverns’ support centre in Burton.
