Punch commits to raise 5k for Queen’s scanner appeal

Burton based pub company, Punch Taverns, has already raised nearly £900 for the Queen’s Hospital Scanner Appeal and, through its Punch Community Spirit Project (PCSP), has set a further challenge to raise £5K for the appeal by the end of the year.

The Punch Taverns Community Spirit Project (PCSP) was set up in 2007 and has donated over £53,000 to over 100 local causes. From local scouts clubs, dance groups, a special trike for a young boy with cerebral palsy, swimming lessons for visually impaired youngsters through to elderly ladies wanting a Wii console!

The PCSP committee will continue to meet regularly and review applications from local groups and causes, but through Punch Taverns’ social events, such as the Summer BBQ on the 24th June, and other fundraising activities, will be aiming to raise £5,000 for the Queens Hospital Scanner Appeal by the end of the year.

Punch Taverns’ Company Secretary, Neil Preston said: “We’re delighted to add our support to the Queens Hospital Scanner Appeal – it will be a huge asset to the hospital and the people of Burton. We are committed to continuing our fundraising efforts and have set ourselves the challenge to raise £5K towards to the appeal by the end of the year.”

Lauren Docksey CT Fundraising Coordinator at the Hospital said: “We invited local businesses to get involved with the Appeal and set a target of raising £1000. Punch Taverns were the first to accept the challenge and have already raised £888.00 through raffles, events and donations. It’s great to meet different people from businesses in the area and the dedication and enthusiasm in helping us here at the Trust is really great to see. With many thanks to Punch’s donation our target now stands at £226,580.00”.
