Hexham hotel celebrates after successful reopening

A Hexham Hotel has seen a successful launch following a transformational makeover costing £700,000 by Priestpopple Partnerships and owners Punch Taverns.

The County Hotel in Hexham re-opened its doors on 7th November, which saw over 100 people attend the VIP launch  following a major investment by Priestpopple Partners Limited and owners Punch Taverns, a leading pub company in the UK,

“The launch was really successful with a lot of extremely positive feedback. All of the customers love the new look and can’t believe how its been transformed,” said Ben Robson, Managing Director of Priestpopple Partnerships Limited.

The County was closed for thirteen weeks whilst a refurbishment was carried out to transform the pub.

As a result, the investment created 25 new jobs.

Inside, the pub was completely redecorated to reflect the traditional community feel, whilst including some stylish finishes.

The hotel’s seven bedrooms have also been upgraded to en-suite and decorated in the contemporary style which runs throughout.

To strengthen the hotel’s food and drink offer, the County now boasts a new menu featuring local produce with daily specials. It has extended its drinks selection to include six cask ales as well as a range of coffees and a traditional afternoon tea.

“We took the opportunity to work with Punch on another site as they shared our vision for the hotel. We believe that the investment has positioned The County as a local community, family-friendly, real ale pub with stylish letting rooms,“ Ben added.

“Customer feedback has been exceptional and they love the new food menu and have also taken a lot of bookings for the letting rooms.

“We have had great support from Punch Taverns in the refurbishment of the pub and I know the team are enjoying welcoming customers back. We have been well-received by the local community and we are seeing lots of old and new faces coming into the County – which is great!”

Punch Taverns’ Partnership Development Manager, Jason Ronan adds: “This is our biggest spend on a single Punch site this year and it has breathed a new lease of life into the hotel and given the community the additional facilities they needed.

“We’re delighted to be working with Priestpopple Partners. They have some great plans to deliver a fantastic customer experience and following the successful launch I am confident they can take it from strength to strength.”
