A donation by leading pub company Punch Taverns has enabled 17 pupils from Pingle High School to go on a residential trip to Llys Andreas Trust camp site in Barmouth, Wales.
The Happy Days charity, which aims to help and educate young people through leisure time and holiday activities, approached the Burton-based company for a donation towards the group of pupils at Pingle High School.
Punch made the £1,000 donation through its Punch Community Promise initiative – which supports local causes and charities within the Burton on Trent area.
The funds covered the cost of the trip to the residential 3-night stay in Barmouth, where the pupils could learn key skills and build confidence.
Les Robinson, special needs teacher at Pingle School said: “We look to run the residential trip every year for the special needs group and we solely rely on the generous donations of local businesses, like Punch Taverns, to fund this – without these donations this trip couldn’t go ahead.
“The residential allows the children to learn practical tasks as well as life skills, and gives them the opportunity to form friendships and cultivate a stronger interdependence.
“We are delighted that the donation from Punch has enabled our pupils to enjoy this trip and will help them grow and develop.”
The Punch Community Promise involves Punch donating time and money to a variety of local causes such as charities, schools, sports clubs, welfare groups and hospitals. To qualify, charities or causes must be located within a 15-mile catchment area of Punch Taverns’ support centre in Burton.
